Abstract

Developing and implementing an Integrated Management System (IMS) can reduce paperwork, minimize costs, and improve system effectiveness and efficiency, allowing companies to remain compliant with the latest standards and regulations.  By achieving operational excellence, IMS helps organizations thrive in today's global markets.  Organizations are increasingly developing sustainable IMS based on improved economic, environmental, and social performance.  The IMS informs current decisions by considering not only the usual economic factors but also social and environmental factors, ensuring the enterprise's perpetuity.  However, limited scientific research exists on the specific impact of IMS on organizations.  This paper aims to address this knowledge gap and contribute to theoretical understanding by reviewing the literature on the impact of IMS on organizations and by developing a framework that can guide future research. This paper also aims to contribute to practice by helping managers understand IMS better.
